Westerville Area Resource Ministry, Providing aHand Up, not aHand Out.
October/November 2007 Newsletter

Suddenly, the WARM headquarters is awash with a colorful identity. Thanks to two special projects led by the generosity and talents of teams of volunteers and benefactors. First, professionally designed and fabricated entrance signs have been added to our façade. These, all made possible
by the generous help of:  FASTSIGNS President Tom DeVries; property owner Bill Rusch; and volunteer installers Eric Gibson, Rich Ritchieand Bill andJim Saltz. These signs lend identity, credibility and permanence to our organization.

While this has been happening out front, WARM has been equally blessed to have another creative endeavor to the rear of our building. A community mural has been painted on the exterior pantry wall
surrounding the WARM 24-hour Food Donation Station. Renee Kropat of Gallery 202 Partners in Art, Inc, designed the mural and helped organize the volunteer artists from WARM and Westerville area schools. Volunteer painters included: Annie Lobb, Catherine Niehausand Tammie Seay.

Thanks to these groups of skilled people with big hearts. They have improved the exterior of our building which now brings a message of hope, healing and happiness to all who visit.

Gallery 202 and W.A.R.M. team up

WESTERVILLE—Recently due to the sponsorship by the Westerville Noon Rotary, Westerville Area Resource Ministry installed an unique food drop area in the rear of the their building on East Broadway.

These food drop boxes allow the community to donate cans and package items any time of the day or night.  To make it easier to donate, Scott Marier requested the help of Gallery 202, Partners in Art, Inc. to design a mural for the drop box wall.  Although there are signs indicating where the drop boxes are located, many community members have difficulty finding the boxes once they enter the back parking lot.

Designed  by Renee Kropat, the mural depicts larger than life, simply drawn persons leaving and bringing food.  The colorful design creates instant recognition of where the drop boxes are located.  The mural is being painted by volunteers and was completed by mid October 2007. Volunteers from W.A.R.M, students from local high schools have been involved in the planning and painting of the mural.

How it all began:

The Uptown Mural Project 2004 completed in September 2004 gave the Uptown Area a large mural as a corner stone to this project. The concept is to provide not only murals but sculptural elements, functional and decorative to the Uptown and surrounding Area. Since then, we have completed murals for interiors and exteriors in Westerville.
