For the past several months I have had the pleasure of working with the Otterbein Lake Project with Linda Brownstein and many others. This project, located just south west of Alum Creek Park will be a destination point for not only many of our residents as well as visitors and it is literally located just down the street from Gallery 202.

A little background:
Otterbein Lake has been hidden from view in its secluded Westerville, Ohio, location south of Main St. and just west of Alum Creek. The 8-acre lake, known only to a few fishermen, is about to be transformed. A group of central Ohio residents is working with the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department to develop the lake to be scenic, environmental, educational, and recreational. When the Otterbein Lake Project is finished, it will include decks and low boardwalks, an interpretive ³ green roof² shelter, walking paths, native vegetation, and native wildlife and habitat.

Gallery 202 would like to help out this project and help out the local artists. We had a call for entries for the Otterbein Lake Project but the response has not been as ³exciting² as we had hoped so.......

Here¹s the deal. We need to help this organization it will help our community, it is a beautiful location -(plein air artists take note!) and will bring more people to the Uptown Area. MORE VISITORS TO THE GALLERY AS WELL........hint increase sales:)!

I would like to waive the entry fee for all co-op members and Passages artists past and present . For those who are in a Local Art league or in a college to lower the entry fee to $10 for an unlimited amount of artwork. Because you see...this is your chance to show off all your nature work, and receive some sales too.

The basic requirement for commission is the same as the original call for entries. All artist receive 60% of their sales, the rest is split between Otterbein Lake and Gallery 202.

But the difference is this is an ongoing silent auction. EACH ARTIST STATES THE STARTING PRICE - USUALLY ABOUT 50% OF THE ORIGINAL PRICE AND WE GO UP FROM THERE. HERE IS THE OTHER PIECE. IF YOUR WORK SELLS BELOW YOUR ORIGNAL PRICE, WE WILL CONSIDER THE DIFFERENCE AS A (INKIND) DONATION. YOU WILL RECEIVE A DONATION FORM FOR THE DIFFERENCE. WE ARE A 501.C3 ORGANIZATION AND DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

And there will be an artist opening during the June Fourth Friday with refreshments provided.

So join me in helping out a local community dream and at the same time showing off your art.

This is a special exhibit to help raise funds for the Otterbein Lake Project . Otterbein Lake has been hidden from view in its secluded Westerville, Ohio, location south of Main St. and just west of Alum Creek. The 10-acre lake, known only to a few fishermen, is about to be transformed. A group of central Ohio residents is working with the Westerville Parks and Recreation Department to develop the lake to be scenic, environmental, educational, and recreational. We are encouraging (but not required) all artists to go to the Otterbein Lake Area during May and paint/photograph/sculpt etc. a special piece of our community.
