Janet Waggoner

A native Ohioan, Janet graduated from Baldwin Wallace College. She has taught in three Ohio school systems and is currently a board member of the Worthington Area Art League, a member of the Westerville Art League, and the Central Ohio Watercolor Society.

Over the years, she has studied with several other professional artists in workshops adding new techniques and creative skills from each encounter. In 1983, while working on a commission of historical drawings, she was asked to paint a picture of a summer home. With her unique style, these paintings soon became known as house portraits. Being more than just architectural renderings, she tries to capture the essence of memories.

Janet has been commissioned for a variety of historical buildings such as the Ohio Statehouse and businesses such as Velvet Ice Cream Company, The Granville Inn and for Denison University. She has also been issued licensing from the Bicentennial Commission to have prints made of her series of paintings including 42 barns, 19 of which have appeared on phonebook covers.

While working mainly on fine arts commissions, many of her paintings have also been used for a variety of commercial uses such as cards, books and package designs. Her fresh style of painting has captured the essence of her subject matter giving personality to what would be normally inanimate objects in the hands of a less intuitive artist.
