Alan Woods - staged readings of short plays, December 6, 2007, 7pm

Join us for a special edition of Evening with the Arts on December 6th at 7pm.  Two short plays,  a cellist solo and Holiday refreshments will all add up to a delightful evening of theatrical fun and  conversation.

Levels of Living - by Nancy Gall-Clayton
Louisville playwright Nancy Gall-Clayton explores what happens when identity theft interferes with a woman's assignment for eternity--and the relative merits of spending eternity in Heaven, singing praises all the time, or having some peace and quiet in a cozy room (with a convenient hot spot) on the top level of The Other Place.

Columbus performers Bev Brewton, Sarah Worthington, and Ira Simons will read Nancy's short play, a runner-up in the 2005 Eileen Heckart Drama for Seniors competition. (http://www.osureadings.blogspot.com)

In addition, Alan Wood will present his own play “Who’s Herbert?”

And finally, Music Provided by: Yvonne Wallin, Cellist.

Wade K Meyer - poet, motivational speaker, comic relief January 3, 7pm

Tom Ballieul - Creativity Workshop - postponed

Kevin Lottes - a playwright and author of First Person Last: short stories, poems, monologues (barehanded books, 2005). November 1, 2006 7pm

In First Person Last, a young man confronts his estranged father in one last attempt at reconciliation. A desperate woman is lost behind a shower curtain. An ordinary man tries to cross the street, but the sudden burst of civilization petrifies his entrance into the uncertainty of a mundane crosswalk. First Person Last signifies the author's personal pipe dream of individual peace, family appeasement, and emotional articulation.

The author will sign copies of his book which will be available to purchase   at the Gallery Gift shop for the discounted price of $10 per copy.

MadLab Theatre has produced his one-act plays, The Leash of the Rainbow's Meow, The Line Shack , and Paralyzed July . His monologues appear in Classroom Scenes and Monologues (Dramatic Publishing Company, 2005) and in the Audition Arsenal Series (Smith & Kraus, Inc., 2005). This first one-act play, Passing Red Dodges , was awarded finalist at the 2000 American College Theatre Festival in Indianapolis.

His freelance journalism for the theatre arts appeared in subsequent issues of dialogue magazine in 2002-2004. For his feature, " Cunning Corners: The Art of Scenic Design" , he interviewed renowned scenic designers such as Santo Loquasto, Todd Rosenthal, Christine Jones, and Vladimir Shpitalnik to discuss their craft and process for stage design.

Mr. Lottes is a Network Playwright for the Chicago Dramatists and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America. He received his B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Southern Indiana. He resides in Ohio.
