What is the student program

With the cutbacks in art programs for the students in the schools, our talented youth are not always being recognized. In the past few years, the Westerville Schools has had to reduce or completely cut out art classes at all levels of education.

When Gallery 202, Partners in Art, Inc. located a space to offer workshops/classes and exhibits, we wanted to provide a special program for local youth talent to promote their art. One of our co-op gallery goals is to provide monthly art exhibits to students and provide a program to encourage the growth and participation in the arts at any age level.

This program includes: (at no cost to the student)
1. Monthly student exhibits, chosen through a jurying process. Students are recommended by parents, teachers, administrators or themselves. The work will be displayed in a Gallery setting open to the public. Any child at any grade level, may be considered for an exhibition. (no cost to the student)
2. Education will be provided, when appropriate, in the following - developing a portfolio, jurying process, how to set up an exhibit, how to sell, writing an art resume and press releases.
3. Each student will be given a web presence and a press release will be completed and sent to local papers.
4. Each exhibiting student will be eligible for future scholarships programs – college or art classes.
5. Students are also given community art opportunities for credit if needed or for fulfilling their volunteer requirements. Volunteering opportunities have included designing T shirts, helping with outdoor murals, helping with art activities for the non-artists.

We will be developing a total of 6 spaces dedicated just to local students. The co-op gallery has a potential for up to 30 spaces. Six designated spaces are to be provided for the student exhibitions with a minimum of 6 students /space /year. There will be a possibility of a total of 36 - 72 students recognized for their artistic achievement per year program. The program is based on the school year and begins in September through August.

Sponsorships are needed to make this a success.

Sponsorships are needed to help with the development of this program, providing consultants/teachers for workshops, developing necessary program literature, provide necessary maintaining of the exhibition booth spaces, appropriate signage and web site development and a final overall student exhibition. Cost: ($100/month).

We are seeking sponsors for each or all student spaces. Each sponsor of the student spaces will receive their name/logo on the student area, and sponsor’s name on all related press (written, web). Depending upon the sponsor, written/web information will be provided as requested.
