Donıt sit on these chairs. King Tut might be offended if you rested on his seat. And surely settling down on Game On would be a real gamble. The annual adventure in whimsical, decoratedchair art organized by Rene Kropat and her Gallery 202, Partners in Art, is off and running ‹ or maybe itıs off and sitting ‹ in Westerville.

King Tut, a chair recalling the Egyptian pharaoh, was created by Ember Craig, a student at the Arts Academy in Delaware.

Game On, by Kayte Targove of Canfield, with its dice and cards, could fit into a Las Vegas casino, or with its Scrabble tiles and dominoes could fit into a family rec room.

"The five SpongeBob chairs, I donıt know how to respond to that," Kropat said about the SpongeBob SquarePants tableau put together by Genoa Middle School students.

The chairs fill the floor.

Meanwhile, pieces from the Westerville Art Leagueıs 47 th annual spring exhibit hang from the walls.

Eye-catchers include Mary Holobaughıs wax batik Three Books, Carrol Wannerıs watercolor portrait Coming of Age, Karen LaValleyıs watercolor scene When Sparks Fly, Ken Seegeıs acrylic landscape Tree Cluster VIII and John A. Danielsı acrylic portrait Liz.

"Chair Is Art" and the Westerville Art League's spring exhibit continue through May 24 on the second floor above Amish Originals Furniture Co., 38 N. State St. in Westerville. Hours: noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, until 8 p.m. Wednesdays.

Chair is Art exhibit and the Westerville Art League Exhibit from April 22 through May 21.
