STAYING CONNECTED
HEARTS
Because my early and middle years were imprinted with the mail man being the bearer of all news, I still hold the daily quiet expectation of opening my mail box to find something of pleasure.
Along with the monthly statements, and very many circulars which I shake to make sure that something of note is not lost in their pages, there is the occasional announcement of, or invitation to, life’s grand events of marriage ceremonies, baby showers, birth announcements, or a party. They are affirmations of being thought of by others with love.
Even grander are the letters from both near and far-away friends and family with news of the months gone by, or postcards wishing that I were there. And sometimes I am most fortunate to find a card, not only for my birthday but a special card, with thoughts of appreciation, caring, or love.
And these announcements, letters, and cards are many times the catalyst for me to send my own words of caring, or words written on a greeting card, that I failed to express in the rush-about of daily life.
Though my mailbox has the rather ordinary theme of hearts, we all know that caring and love, however conveyed, are never ordinary.
