Don not forget, like I have, to try and remember to take pictures of each art piece as it travels through the list. I hope to use them for display and possibly pr. In addition, look at the packaging as it moves around the country and how is it becoming a part of the total project
Lastly, thank you to all of those who realized that you do have busy lives and mailed your piece with just the signature piece attached in respect to the other artists. Go, goddesses, go.
If you did not receive your piece, call the artist and find out what may have happened. We hopefully should our final piece to work on. I hope you were all excited as I was and of course as amazed. Take pictures or slides. We will need them in the future.
Remember, if you can not complete your additions within a reasonable time frame, plese do not give up, place a signature piece on the art and pass it along. Contact me if you need to.
Remember that you only have control over the initial development of your own artwork and are not allowed to tell other artists what to do. However, do not forget about your journal.... be creative, be simple, be whatever you select and you can control the outcome of the journal.
Keep the following in mind for the future.
1. Where would you like to display the final projects?
2. There is no right, no better than, no destroying other works
3. If you are not enjoying this, have a rest and a libation of your choice and then try again. Although this is to be challenging to a point it will hopefully not drive you nuts.
4. Keep us informed of any address changes or any news in general.
5. Opt to attend one or all of the extra goddess celebration that are planned for the next year.
Concept.
A group of artists will be creating their own individual base projects, begin the embellishment and then pass it to the next artist who will add their own artistic flair and pass on. The artworks will be passed through the group and will return to their original owner.
Rules: The base project will be a Wrap of your choosing. A wrap can be defined as anything from a cloak to a shield to a protective covering to a warm fuzzy. The material for the wrap is up to the initiating artist and may be anything : photographs, cloth, ceramics, wood, metal etc. But remember you must be able to mail/ups this so consider the packaging requirement.
The number in each group will be determined by the number of signups. Minimal in each group is 6, maximum is 12. People will be assigned randomly.
A journal designed by each artist must accompany the piece but the type of journal is left up to the originating artist - can be written, visual, photo, boxes etc.
Each piece is passed via mail or UPS service to allow each artist to have private time in examining the artwork without influences (perceived excitement from the owner before you!) The packaging for the artwork can also be considered a part of the overall wrap. If there are special instructions for packing the art piece, please include them. Also remember to keep the packaging so you can send your part on its way. Change packaging if you have increased the size of the piece, if necessary.
No one may completely destroy the work of someone before you and all artists must accept that their contribution may be altered or perhaps covered up. No one is allowed to tell the next artist what to do.
A suggested 1-2 month work time/piece is desired but this is open to negotiation. If you can not complete one segment of the artwork, do not fret and do not pass it on without at least a signature piece. Find a signature piece that represents you and add that to the piece and pass it along. At no time do we want someone to give up and not complete and withdraw. Unforseen delays should not stop an artist. Your signature piece could be a colored button, a saying, a photo etc. Include it on the piece and fill in the journal as required. Do not pass on and expect the piece to come back to you., it will not. Trust your instinct that you did to the piece what had to be done and you surrendered it accordingly, regardless of how much or little you perceived you did.
We will meet every 3-4 months - just to discuss art in general and have some fun! These checkup meetings are not an requirement and the purpose is not to discuss specific artworks but to encourage the artistic growth within ourselves and to perhaps find more possibilities. Oh yes, and to eat.
A final party/exhibition will be determined by the group(s). Exhibition of the final pieces will be determined as we go along so keep your eyes and ears open for some possible spaces.
