Kristane Murray

I classify myself as a mixed-media, found object artist who dabbles in conceptualism.

My art includes discarded equipment and ephemeral pop culture items--from discarded foil paper to broken appliances. I find raw materials in what others classify as trash. I reclaim the obsolete form, turning it upside down and backwards until I find a new function.

I pull chrysanthemums and cherry blossoms from chocolate wrappers or optical illusions from a washing machine. I dance over the line between art and craft seeking to capture the subtle, surprising and sublime. I create sculptures with a job to do!
