Gerald (Jerry) SmithI've been an artist virtually all my life. I began to make a living at it as an apprentice sketch artist fora local sign company. I was 18. From the beginning, art has been exciting to me. It's like a puzzle. The pieces, color, light, concept and narrative. Putting it all together brings a profound sense of personal satisfaction.While in the sign business, I developed graphic and architectural concepts for local and national accounts including another Columbus Original: Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers. My fine arts career began in the late 80's when I discovered watercolor. I've since exhibited and received awards in numerous juried shows throughout Ohio. I am active in several arts organizations and am a past president of the Central Ohio Watercolor Society. I now work in watercolor, acrylics and pen & ink illustration." |
