The Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Creativity Program

The Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Creativity Program has developed a new online resource, Artist Opportunities Database, to post opportunities for artists. The Artist Opportunities Database is a searchable listing of opportunities and is free and open to the public for browsing and searching. This database provides a listing of local, state, national and international opportunities which consist of grants, exhibitions, calls for entry, calls for proposals, requests for qualifications, performances, educational opportunities/workshops and festivals.

We are inviting you to search this new resource to look for opportunities available to artists. We have had wonderful response from organizations locally, nationally and internationally. We encourage you to view the site frequently since new opportunities are posted daily. The Artist Opportunities Database is available online only so that we may maintain the most current information possible. You may find the Artist Opportunities Database at our website www.oac.state.oh.us under the Search Databases tab or follow the direct link listed here:

Arts Around the Town – Upcoming April 2006 – call for volunteers and creative energies!

A month long celebration of the arts in Westerville will take place this Spring. Last year, our past Mayor Mike Heyeck declared April as arts month. The Arts Council of Westerville, Inc. has been working diligently to create more awareness of the local arts in our town, create an arts friendly atmosphere and provide a flurry of activities for this month long event.

Westerville is a community full of the arts from visual, theatrical, musical, dance and literature. April is Arts month is a recognition and celebration of the Arts for and by all residents of Westerville, regardless of age or abilities.

This year’s event is titled Arts Around the Town. Whether you are an artist, an observer or someone who is just curious, we are encouraging everyone to participate, explore or attend at least one art event this month. A calendar of art events can be found at www.westervilletoday.com, click on April and keep checking back as we update. Send your updates to cmilligan@ameritech.net or Renee@gallery202online.com

To promote the art organizations, individuals and businesses banners will be created and displayed in Uptown Westerville area throughout the month of April. If you are interested in creating one of the dozens of arts related banners or would like to sponsor a banner, please contact Cindy Hayter at cindyhayter@westervillectc.com (The Westerville Art Center) or call 614-898-9282 . Special Fun Saturday workshops are being planned now just to help create these banners.

Other “artists of all abilities and ages” are asked to help create a special April is Arts logo that represents the spirit of the Arts in Westerville. The logo theme is “Arts Around the Town” and anyone interested in the logo contest information should contact Jan Fedorenko at Hanby Arts Magnet School, 797-7100. Deadline for submission is early March.
