Arts Around The Town – April 2006
Through out April, come to Westerville to explore, enjoy and participate in the Arts. Beginning On April 1st, join us for creative, fun and free activities from morning to night. This day’s activities are just a sampling of the arts that can be found in Westerville on any day in April. Whether you are an artist, an observer or someone who is just curious, we are encouraging everyone to participate, explore or attend at least one art event this month. On Saturday, April 1st, the Mayor will join us to kick off the April is Art Month celebration for Westerville. Our logo winner, Blake Weissman, will be honored. A self guided art hunt game will be revealed and music by talented students from the Chamber Music Connection will begin at 1:30. But from morning to night, many of the local arts organizations, business art supporters and patrons will be hosting arts activities too.
Begin by strolling along uptown and enjoy the banners (over three dozen) created by local artists, businesses and patrons. Then you can plan your artful day with the following……
9-noon: Emerson and Whittier Student Art Show. Commerce Bank. 17 N. State St. 614-890-7832.
9am-9pm: Referent: Photographs by Joel Whitaker. Fisher Gallery, Roush Hall, OC. 27 S. Grove St. 614-823-1792.
10-12:30 and 2-4: Kids Open House: Create ART projects for free, Westerville Arts Center, 250 N. State St.
10-4pm: Westerville School District Art Show. Gallery 202 Co-op. 38 N. State St. 614-890-8202.
10-4pm: Annual Chair is Art Exhibit. Gallery 202, Partners in Art, Inc. 38 N. State St. 614- 890-8202.
1pm: Special Reception and Kick Off for April is Art Celebration, 38 North State St.
• Welcome all guests and Introduce: Mayor Fosselman and Arts Month banners
• Mayor paints final brush stoke on one banner and hang the last 4 banners on North State Street
• Hand out April calendars, talk about scavenger hunt, opening doors to art

• 1:30-2:30pm Chamber Music Connection, 4 student strings musicians
1-3pm: Beyond the Rainbow Exhibit. artists ages 5-7. David Myers Art Studio and Gallery. 3 W. Main St., 614- 882-2180.
2:30pm: Barbershop Sing: Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital Maternity Pavilion. 500 S. Cleveland Ave. 614-890-0882.
8pm: Faculty Recital Series: Rosalind Crew, soprano.. Riley Auditorium, Battelle Fine Arts Center. 170 W. Park St. 823-1358.
The Arts Council of Westerville mission is to connect the greater Westerville community to arts programs, schools, and artists. Volunteers are always welcomed. Any one who would like to take part in the council, log on to www.artscouncilwesterville.com for more information or attend our monthly meetings, held the second Thursday of each month at Hanby Arts Magnet School, 7pm in the Library, 797-7100.
