We are also looking for lots of volunteers to help put on this event - lots of fun ways to help out. If you can volunteer, please contact the Westerville Chamber at website or email

They are helpful and will answer questions.

  • I have asked this in the past, but what does this festival do for the local artists and art groups?

  • this is a national festival so it provides opportunities for local artists to strive to be a part of the national event, gives opportunities for artists and non artists to participate in the planning and execution of this event - run by over 100 volunteers. It's a way for people to network in a fun atmosphere and to celebrate not only visual arts, but also local and national music groups, celebrate the creativity of local children artists and to even see hertiage arts and arts not generic to our area. It's all in what you make of it...and you can make alot

  • So the proceeds are going to build the Westerville cultural arts centre?

Are Westerville Artists being picked over the "circuit artists?"

This does include musicians, they are artists also, and I made no distinction of any seperate arts or disciplines. Art is Art, no matter what form it comes in.

  • Maybe it is time for me to bow out of the Westerville Art Community.

  • The Westerville Music & Arts Festival is a major economic development project for the Westerville Chamber which in turns provides support for the local businesses in Westerville. This is different than most festivals - not run by the arts council but by the chamber.

It is a positive step that a chamber organization has provided opportunity for artists to showcase their work from kids to adults, visual and performance artists and fun food - networking with the business community in westerville. Yes it is a juried show and artists are selected from all over the country as well as local artists - visual and performances.

Come volunteer and see first hand the work that it takes to put on a festival with 160 visual artists, 24 musical acts, two full days of fun and over 100 volunteers.

  • Do the local artists get consideration over the circuit artists?

Does the money from this art festival go to local businesses that have a track record of supporting the arts?

  • How much insurance is the chamber carrying on this event? I just checked on a couple of events that I am planing on presenting at, they carry $1 million plus in liability insurance and require that I can at least the same amount in liability. Then I have to carry theft insurance. They supply the rent a cops.

I get my coverage through my jewelry and blacksmithing organizations, but most people don't get that chance. Plus having somebody signing a contract that holds the event organizer not liable may not hold up in court.

Just because a lawyer says a contract is air tight, doesn't control a judges decision to void the contract.

  • The City of Westerville has the Art Barn, while the Chamber has the Art Festival.

Where does the local artist come in with this scheme of things?

Is there a place for artist to do or show their work that comes from either of these entities.

If something says art then their should be local artists behind the situation, it is their town also.

  • surprisingly there is art sources for the local artists but often it has to be searched out - whether the local art league, the community band, the individual buisnesses that host music/arts.

This April, there are several events being planned just for the locat artist - check them out as they develop at www.westerville.today and click on April.....

Getting the work out is the hardest part.
